INSIDE THEIR NEIGHBOURS FINALE RETURN
Everyone needs good neighbours, especially when you’re farewelling one of Australia’s most iconic shows! Indeed, to the delight of fans, Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan will be returning to Neighbours for the series’ final episode. The pair, who played Charlene and Scott in the ’80s, confirmed their involvement by posting photos of their scripts on social media.
Sources on the show’s Melbourne set tell New Idea that production reached out to Kylie and Jason as soon as the axe fell on the soap, which has been on the air for 37 years as of last March.
“This will be the dream conclusion to the show, for fans new and old,” tells the insider. “There couldn’t be a more satisfying ending!”
After years of being asked to reprise their roles, the stars finally aligned with Kylie and Jason, both 53, now calling Melbourne home.
“Kylie has been invited back multiple times over the years, but it was always a polite no,” says the source. “Yet she signed up for this finale within days of the offer coming through.
“She’s not asking for a huge fee ... She sees it as a big thank you to the show that started her career. There’s so much nostalgia involved with this moment and Kylie didn’t want to be left with any regrets.”
While exact details are being kept under wraps, our source says the storyline could involve Charlene and Scott relocating back to Ramsay Street.
“That might change yet, though. Kylie’s in the front seat of how Charlene is being written,” says the source.
Meanwhile, Kylie and Jason might not be the only former castmates headed back to Erinsborough...
