FEELING UNMOTIVATED AT WORK? A FEW SMALL CHANGES CAN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE

-

There’s nothing worse than a bad case of the Sunday night blues. If you’re constantly dreading Monday morning, it may be time to make some career changes. Founder of A.D Connects and career coach, Amie Duignan, shares her expertise on how shifting your mindset at work can help reignite your passion.

BE AWARE OF WHAT YOU DISLIKE

Once you become aware of what you’re loving and what you’re hating at work, you can create a list of what you want from your job. This will help shift you into a positive state of mind as you can use this experience to help sift through what is important and what you truly want. Lean into that feeling and be curious about what comes up. Use difficult emotions to understand what needs to change.

TAKE INITIATIVE

If there are things you can change at work, use this awareness to speak up for what you’re not enjoying. If you need more resources, ask. If you would love to work one day a week from home, negotiate it. If you don’t ask, you won’t receive.

TREAT YOURSELF

Reward yourself any time you complete a project or do something great (which happens a lot more than we give ourselves credit for). Do something nice for yourself – it can be something little. Give yourself a pat on the back and celebrate all your wins, no matter how small. This creates such a healthy and positive mindset, and gets you to smile and appreciate the little things.

LEARN SOMETHING NEW

Learn a new skill – something to switch work up and allow you to develop laser focus on what you enjoy. This will get your creativity flowing and help you feel passionate about doing something to benefit your career. Feeling a sense of passion around something you love to do will boost your attitude.

While you may wish you could quit your job right now, implementing a couple of these mindset shifts will make work a happier environment for you, resulting in a better version of yourself.

When it’s time to make the transition and start a new job, you’ll be full of good energy that’s contagious, and your new boss will have a positive first impression of you.
