A FAMILY REUNION IN OZ IS ON THE CARDS
Veteran actress Angela Lansbury may be turning 97 in October, but the veteran Hollywood icon is telling her agents to line up another project for her - and bonus points if it’s in Australia!
After all, the star, who has long insisted that she may never retire, has a very high-profile family member to catch up with.
“Angela has a special love for Australia, and she’d love to visit again or work there,” a close friend of the star tells New Idea exclusively.
“Years ago, she and her husband Peter took their kids to spend a summer at Bondi Beach and she always talked about what a great time they had.
“Two of her kids, Deidre, and Anthony, played with their cousin, Malcolm Turnbull, who’s related to Angela through his mum, Coral Lansbury.”
Yes, the friend is referring to that Malcolm Turnbull!
The man who held Australia’s top job as prime minister from 2015 to 2018.
In a 2012 interview, Angela revealed their connection.
“I haven’t seen him in years, but we keep in touch by phone and email,” she said. “I’m looking forward to a long-overdue reunion.”
But it’s not just Malcolm, 67, that’s luring Angela to Australia’s sunny shores.
“She also admits that while she’s not a big beer drinker, and prefers wine, there is something yummy about a nice cold Australian beer,” says the friend.
These days, the Murder, She Wrote star divides her time between New York, Los Angeles, and a holiday home in County Cork, Ireland.
“Despite her years, Angela is still very ‘with it’ and wants to keep working and travelling for as long as possible,” says another source.
They add:
“Her lifelong healthy regime and grandkids keep her young.
The insider also reveals that “it’s been three years since Angela last worked. But she wants producers and casting directors to know she is ready, willing and able to strut her stuff again. “And she feels there are still a few great roles left out there for her to conquer!”
