NEW DETAILS EMERGE AS THE SAD FALLOUT CONTINUES
Victoria Beckham was rightly proud as punch of her close relationship with her eldest son Brooklyn. Ever since he was born in March 1999, they had an unbreakable bond – or so she thought.
Posh Spice could never have imagined that 23 years later, just as her beloved boy married the woman of his dreams, that they would be on such terrible terms.
Multiple reports claim Brooklyn and his new wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, aren’t on speaking terms with his parents, breaking his mother’s heart and leaving dad David bereft.
At the heart of their sudden falling out is Victoria, 48, and Nicola, 27 – who, say sources, “can’t stand each other”.
“In some ways, they’re too similar,” says an insider. “They both know their own mind and they both feel that Brooklyn is ‘theirs’. Brooklyn is caught in the middle, and sadly for his mother, it seems his new wife is winning this particular battle.”
The warring women have taken to making pot shots at each other through glossy magazines and social media, with Nicola upsetting her mother-in-law recently by gracing the cover of Tatler, alongside the headline, “The New Mrs Beckham”.
Last week, when the newlyweds graced the cover of Vogue Hong Kong, Victoria was quick to declare on Instagram that she was
“so proud” of her son, while snubbing any mention of her daughter-in-law.
Stirrings of a feud first surfaced at the young couple’s Florida wedding, held at the bride’s billionaire father Nelson’s beachfront mansion.
“The Beckhams felt sidelined by the Peltz family’s blatant show of largesse,” says a source. “It was made clear then that they were in charge.”
Nicola, meanwhile, refused to wear a dress designed by Victoria, later claiming that her atelier was “too busy” and that she instead
was forced to go with couture by Valentino.
Sources close to the Spice Girl say that is “Nicola’s version of events, but not Victoria’s”.
Now, insiders worry that the ill feeling between Posh and Nicola has gone too far.
“David is beside himself and has tried his best to be peacemaker, but he can see that Nicola’s driving a wedge between her husband and his family,” says a source. “The Beckhams worked so hard to create a solid family unit with their four children, and to see it come undone is heartbreaking. Victoria wants it all to just stop.”
