FIVE DECOR TRENDS TO TRY THAT WON’T BREAK THE BANK!

-

Achange in seasons can often spark a shift in our interior. Luckily there are a few simple, chic, and cost-effective ways to give your home the mini spruce up it needs. We rounded up five low-effort decor trends to try that will have a big impact.

1 The new neutrals

Gone are the days of crisp whites and icy hues. Instead, we’re seeing an increase in warmer tones across furnishings, ceramics, furniture and even paint trends. Think palettes with “a slightly yellow influence, pink undertones that appear in clay hues and reddy browns, olive green and accents of pale blue and zesty yellow,” says Dulux colour and communications manager, Andrea Lucena-orr. Incorporate warmth into your space with a cosy textured throw or pillows in harmonising shades of caramel, chocolate and beige.

2 Cosy up with corduroy

We’re saying bye to boucle and hello to this luxe ’70s-inspired fabric. Corduroy is making its mark in the interior space and we couldn’t be happier (or cosier). The perfect way to bring a piece of the past to a contemporary space, this lush material is a popular choice for cushion covers, blankets and quilts. Or make a bold statement with furniture pieces like a lush couch.

3 Living la dolce vita

It’s a trend that came into the scene a few short years ago and we’re delighted that it’s here to stay. Bring a piece of the Mediterranean into your home with ceramics, tableware and decor in Italian prints and hues reminiscent of a European summer. A dining set decorated with fruit and vegetable motifs is guaranteed to brighten up your autumn table.

4 Rustic rewind

Whether you’re up for a bit of DIY or love scouring the markets for a vintage find, rustic homely decor is one trend guaranteed to bring warmth and cosiness into a space. “Think weathered wood, vintage ceramics and utilitarian furnishings,” says interior stylist Justine Wilson. “This style champions worn textures like brick and stone, evoking a sense of authenticity and simplicity.” But if you don’t have the time to craft something yourself or spend hours thrift shopping, there are plenty of pieces that encapsulate this trend and incorporating it into your home can be as simple as adding a few flowers to a rustic looking vase. Too easy!

5 Retro prints

If there’s one decade that always makes a comeback in the interiors world it’s the ’70s. This season we’re revisiting flamboyant patterns in mustard yellows, forest greens and earthy browns. Add a bold printed cushion or woven throw to your lounge room for a quick retro spruce up. If you’re feeling bold, opt for a coloured furniture set to take centre stage of a room.
