Protecta Insurance brings you Caffeine and Classics — a monthly brunch open to all vehicles and held on the last Sunday of each month at Smales Farm, just 5km north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge. From 9am to 12pm.

Queen’s Birthday at Queens Wharf is a free annual event that brings the best bits of Great Britain to downtown Auckland in a three-day event attracting more than 80,000 people. As part of the celebratio­n, British sports, music, objects, food, culture, and machines are all displayed throughout Shed 10, The Cloud, and Queens Wharf and shared with the attending public. Cars are the jewel in the crown of this event, with vehicles spanning 100 years of British motoring history being displayed by retailers and clubs. New Mclaren, Bentley, and Aston Martin models share floor space with old MGS, Daimlers, Minis, a double-decker London bus and brand-new Jaguars. Places are available for British car clubs now. The Gore branch of the Vintage Car Club cordially invites all past and present members and supporters to attend the club’s 50th anniversar­y celebratio­ns. On Friday, there’ll be a ‘noggin and natter’; on Saturday, a rally and dinner; and, on Sunday morning, tea and a farewell. To be held at Paradise Valley Raceway, the event will feature vintage, veteran, and classic cars, and hot rods. Open 7am–3pm. Hot food and refreshmen­ts available. August 27: Alfa Romeo Owners Club Driver Experience 2016

Bruce Mclaren Motorsport Park, Taupo, from 8am. Come and enjoy this noncompeti­tive event designed to appeal to everyone wanting or needing track time, from newcomers to experience­d racers. Seize this opportunit­y to see how you and your car perform at a safe and low-cost event. Drivers will be separated into groups with similar experience and similarly paced cars. Track-craft and driver training will be available from experience­d race drivers. Safety equipment required includes helmets, pure cotton overalls (no poly blends), and closed footwear. All road cars must have a current WOF and race cars a logbook. All cars will be scrutineer­ed. There will be lunch-time parade laps behind pace car (free, by invitation). BYO food and drink or purchase from cart at the track. Entry fee: $100 per driver, or $80 if you bring another person willing to help marshal (no experience necessary). Social wind down: after the track closes, relive the day at the Ploughmans Restaurant, 45 Charles Crescent, Taupo. Cash bar/ food. No need to book.
