She’d like to add a few custom modifications along the way to make it his own.
As the original chassis was completely rusted out, they decided to use a shortened 1996 Land Rover Discovery rolling chassis, complete with modernized coil suspension, four-pot disc brakes, and power steering, as well as offering the benefit of extra width and reliability. The engine is a rebuilt 3.5-litre Rover V8 sporting a few extra high-performance upgrades, including a stage-one high-torque camshaft, Hylift Johnson lifters, ported heads, rebuilt Zenith Stromberg carburettors and a full stainless-steel exhaust system fabricated by Christopher and his father. The gearbox is an LT95 unit from a 109 Land Rover.
Christopher has completed all the panel beating, painting, and assembly by himself, with the occasional hand from his father. The interior seats, hood lining, and dash have been recovered in vinyl, and Christopher has installed a Kicker sound system.
To date, Christopher has invested almost all of his first year’s wages into the Landy, but, as old cars are his passion, there’s nothing that he’d rather spend his hard-earned money on.
Welcome to the classic car hobby, Christopher.
