For those hanging out for a successor to the legendary Lancia Stratos, the news is all good — there’s not long to wait. After getting off to a controversial start, German entrepreneur Michael Stoschek has taken almost 10 years to create the new Stratos. Stoschek purchased the rights to the Stratos name, so the new car won't wear the ‘Lancia’ badge; instead, specialist company Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT), headed by Paolo Garella, will build a limited run of just 25 examples of the new Stratos.

But wait, there’s more. Three variants are planned — a road car; a race car; and most interesting of all, a rally-inspired ‘Safari’ as well — each being completely customizable to its lucky purchaser.
