South Canterbury Hydraulics Southern Classic

-

This race meeting is an annual invitation event for historic and classic car racing. The Classic Motor Racing Club of New Zealand (CMRC) race committee is inviting competitors to the event, which will run from 7 to 9 February at the Timaru International Motor Raceway, formerly known as the Levels.

Organizers say the fields at this event are larger, meaning recent grid race experience is essential. And because of the number of events in the series, a high level of vehicle preparation is required.

The Southern Classic is part of the Southern Festival organized by members of the three major racing clubs in the South Island: the Canterbury Car Club, CMRC, and Southland Sports Car Club. Each club arranges its own programme of events and hospitality, and supplementary regulations for other events in the series will be available from their respective organizers. The Southern Classic is run by the South Canterbury Car Club team.

The aim of the series is for all participants to have entertaining racing in which the focus is on competing rather than winning trophies, but the organizers also promote this event to encourage spectator attendance.
