New Zealand Classic Car

MUSTANGS GATHER

-

The 2020 Ford National Mustang Convention will take place in Christchurch over Labour weekend, 23 to 26 October. The event could well be the largest single-model classic car convention ever seen in New Zealand.

Canterbury Mustang Owners Club president Garry Jackson says Mustang appreciation spans the generations from the 1960s to today. The host club has chosen The Sound, the radio station that defines itself as “playing the soundtrack of our lives”, to be the official marketing partner to promote the event to Canterbury and the nation.

“The Sound is a perfect fit for our marketing activities, and I know that through The Sound listeners will become enthusiastically engaged in the build-up and promotion of the Mustang Convention, commencing from late September,” Garry tells us.

The highlight of the convention will be the Grand Mustang Show at Horncastle Arena on Saturday, 24 October, at which organizers expect 220 or more Ford Mustangs to be on public display.

Hiliary Schroeder, promotions and marketing manager for The Sound, says Mustangs and The Sound are natural partners: “We all recognize the iconic image and legendary status of the Ford Mustang. There’s a close natural association between The Sound, and our mantra of the greatest music ever made, and the world’s greatest pony car. We’re really looking forward to promoting the Mustang Convention to our widespread, discerning, and enthusiastic listeners.”
