Leaving corporate life for a healthy life is a step in the right direction

- SUNI GOLIGHTLY

Entrepreneur, mother and yoga instructor Emma Seibold is one of the few people who can legitimately wear activewear all day long.

Having spent a decade in busy marketing roles in Melbourne, Emma left the clutches of corporate life in 2009 to follow her passion of holistic wellness and yoga and launching the Urban Remedy range of juices, smoothie, ‘mylks’, elixirs, tonics and soups.

A certified yoga teacher, Pilates instructor, holistic health and nutrition coach, she’s since gone on to create Barre Body, a yoga, Pilates, barre (isometric exercises at a ballet barre) combo that is the hottest thing in fitness right now. She currently has eight Barre Body studios across Australia, an online studio at www.barrebody.com.au/online, and a new studio opening in the Habitat development in Byron Bay in later this year.

“My dad has lived here for years and we are very blessed with our business in that we can live and work from anywhere in the world, so we chose Byron,” says Emma of the Mullumbimby property she shares with husband Matt and children, Xavier, 5 and Isla, 2.

She enjoys aerial yoga and morning practice in her garden, which also furnishes the family with fresh fruit and vegies.

The home also features beautiful citrus trees of orange, lime and lemon as well as a passionfruit vine, pawpaw tree and mango tree. The vegie garden provides seasonal goodies such as mint, parsley, tomatoes, eggplant and capsicum.

Emma loves the creative hub that is Mullumbimby and says her next venture – the new studio in Byron – will expand on her original vision, offering Pilates classes, yoga classes and barre classes.

While her healthy lifestyle is great for Emma’s skin, she does have some help to look as sensational as she does.

THE STYLE FILE

What is your fashion style?

I do wear a lot of activewear. I would describe my style as “ath-luxe”. I tend to go for higher end pieces and layer them up so I can wear them all day long.

What is your go to look for nights on the town?

Boots and a dress with more layers if it’s cooler.

Who are some of your favourite designers?

Aday, First Base, Helmut Lang, Seed Heritage, Stella Mccartney. I also really love the local brands Rowie, Spell and Auguste.

Tell us about your favourite bag?

I think I will always love my State of Escape bag. It’s the perfect carry all.

How do you achieve your beauty look?

My make-up is the same almost every day – primer, Nars tinted moisturiser (50+ in St Tropez), Nars Laguna bronzer, Youngblood creme blush in Champagne Life and whatever mascara I have on hand.

What’s one fashion trend you wish you hadn’t embraced?

Hipster jeans. I spent far too much of my 20s pulling up my pants at the back.
