GLORIOUS FOOD

Idon’t know about you, but I’m always hungrier in winter. Maybe it’s the cold weather, or the extra time spent indoors, but I find myself thinking about food for a good part of my waking hours!

Lucky for us, our region has a food scene that’s the envy of the world. There’s bountiful fresh produce available at farmers’ markets held almost every day of the week, talented chefs and passionate food producers, and an ever-increasing number of local festivals and events dedicated to food.

One of the longest running is the Ballina Food and Wine Festival, coming up on July 1. It’s a smorgasbord of local produce, premium wines, craft beers and cooking demonstrations that’s not to be missed, and includes an appearance from renowned chef Sean Connolly - read our interview with Sean on page 8.
