Northern Rivers Style

NRC is humming along in 2020

-

THE Northern Rivers Conservatorium is a hub of musical creativity based in the heart of Northern Rivers dedicated art and culture scene.

Focused on providing quality musical education, the NRC’S main offerings include choir, ensemble opportunities or individual instrument tuition, while the youngsters can get involved through the NRC’S early childhood music classes.

NRC focuses on holistic tuition which combines instrumental, ensemble and theory lessons.

Students are encouraged to perform in a variety of contexts to grow their skills including collaborating with other students to make new music.

This is all within the NRC’S learning framework: technical, theoretical, creative, ensemble and evaluation. Students undergo individually tailored lessons and are assessed formally each semester to track their development.

If local schools want to enhance their musical offering, NRC can tutor students during school hours. With a flexible approach, NRC can adapt to a school’s unique needs with tuition available in a one-on-one, small group and ensemble capacity.

Small group lessons make music classes more affordable and ensure everyone has the chance to receive high-quality music education. However, instruments are best learned in a one-on-one setting as it allows the student to receive tailored advice. Offered in 30-minute lessons, the sessions are kept fun and fresh.

In these lessons’ students learn musical theory, aural skills and musicology which helps them gain a more rounded understanding of music.

For your inner-instrumentalist, NRC offers a wide-ranging degree of instrument teachings from the guitar to the viola.

With an experienced staff who still perform today, NRC has modern teaching methods that will take you from fumbling through sheet music to rocking out on stage.

Lior Compassion is a symphony of songs that unites the soulful power of Lior’s voice with the radiance and vivid drama of Nigel Westlake’s orchestral style. Held at Lismore City Hall on Friday, May 16, book through Norpa

In the July school holidays, young musicians from across the region will converge on the Northern Rivers Conservatorium to play together as an orchestra. The NRYO program supported by Norpa provides regional music students the opportunity to experience the social and educational benefits of playing together in a large ensemble, with music designed to encourage and build musical skills at each level.

Students learn their parts throughout term two in preparation for the three-day intensive program, which culminates in a public performance to be held at Lismore City Hall.

The Northern Rivers Conservatory is located at: 152 Keen St, Lismore
