Phil says… When you are working lineside, your own safety and that of others needs to be a primary concern. Each railway will have its own set of rules which you will be expected to obey to the letter, once you have received your lineside permit (see page 13). One of the first and most important rules is that you must always wear an orange hi-vis jacket whenever you are near the track, so that engine drivers can see you clearly in the distance.
