This issue’s Apprentice gets lessons in panning, freezing action and finding viewpoints in his hands-on masterclass shooting mountain biking

Name Andy McAllister

Camera Nikon D5100

Andy got the photography bug when he was 16 and went to Canada on holiday. Now aged 48, he lives in Yorkshire and works long hours as an IT consultant. With his children getting older, he has more time again for photography, so he wrote in to to ask us to help him with his cycling shots. We set him up for a day on the downhill trails at Longleat forest in Wiltshire, under the tutelage of a man who shoots brilliant action images for the top mountain biking magazines…

Every issue we pair up an N-Photo reader with a top Nikon pro for a special one-on-one masterclass. This is the story of their day together. This is the N-Photo Apprentice…

Seb says bikes have been his blood for 20 years, and can remember the birth of clipless pedals for mountain bikes and the giant leap from six to seven gears. He also runs regular specialist training courses on his tricks of the trade. Find out more at www.sebrogers.com
