Jeff Widener has photographed some of the world’s most momentous events…

Aged 18, Widener was awarded the Kodak Scholastic National Photography Scholarship.

After a newspaper career in the USA, he went to Brussels as a staff photographer for United Press International.

From 1987 to 1995, he was based in Bangkok for AP, covering events from the Seoul Olympics to the first Gulf War.

Widener was nominated for the 1990 Pulitzer Prize for ‘Tank Man’. He has also received awards from the Overseas Press Club and the New York Press Club.
