03 It is tempt­ing to keep your dis­tance when pho­tograph­ing candid shots of buskers and mar­ket stall­hold­ers, but you will of­ten get stronger com­po­si­tions if you get in closer and use a wide-an­gle lens set­ting rather than a tele­photo one. By get­ting nearer the per­spec­tive changes, mak­ing your sub­ject look big­ger, and show­ing more of the set­ting, cre­at­ing a more three­d­i­men­sional view. The back­ground will tend to be more in fo­cus, but this can be sub­dued by con­vert­ing to mono­chrome.
