45 With­out a lot of ex­pe­ri­ence tak­ing mono­chrome pho­to­graphs, it’s hard to pre-vi­su­alise which shots are go­ing to work best in black-and-white. Use the Mono­chrome Pic­ture Con­trol (see page 66) so you can see if you’ll be suc­cess­ful straight away; use a NEF + JPEG im­age qual­ity set­ting so you re­tain full edit­ing con­trol over the im­age in case you want to tweak it later in post-pro­duc­tion.
