We asked if you agreed with one pro pho­tog­ra­pher’s sug­ges­tion that for street pho­tog­ra­phy it’s best to shoot with­out ask­ing per­mis­sion…

I shoot in pub­lic all the time and I don’t try to hide it by us­ing a tele­photo lens. I use a nor­mal one and smile and walk around. People smile back. I have never had one per­son ask about it ex­cept to want to see the photo.

I agree with NOT ask­ing per­mis­sion. People tend to “pose” when they know you are shoot­ing. Street pho­tog­ra­phy should cap­ture spon­tane­ity.
