Creative Meg loves hunting out unusual subjects… and getting her hamster to model
I can’t remember when I realised I loved photography, I’ve been passionate about it for so long! I bought my first D-SLR when I was studying photography and film at university. That was when I realised that I wanted to become a freelance photographer.
I still use my first camera, the [1] Nikon D3000. I don’t think I’ll upgrade it any time soon – I’m so fond of it. I’m not a fan of carting about lots of gear. I normally take out my camera in my Lowepro bag, and the one lens that I’ve always got with me is my [2] Nikon 50mm f/1.8D. I love the depth of field it creates and the dream-like feel it gives, plus I’m a sucker for bokeh. When I’m planning on shooting in low light, I take my [3] Jessops Atlantic Alfa 3 Q/R tripod with me.
Whatever I’m shooting, I really try to look for interesting angles and new perspectives. For quite a while I worked with a limited space, so I was always looking for details in the blandest of objects, which actually is a fantastic learning tool that forces you to be creative.
In the future I’d love to create a photobook of my photography. It takes up so much of my time, why not show it off a little?
