Hav­ing worked in Greater Manch­ester since the 1950s, De­nis Thorpe was best placed to pho­to­graph the de­mo­li­tion of the city’s Vic­to­rian back-to-back slums. De­nis’s love of back­light­ing came to the fore as he shot Sal­ford’s Archie Street, which had been im­mor­talised in the open­ing cred­its for ITV’s Corona­tionStreet.
