EXPERT INSIGHT THE BOOK

-

Bruce says… A photographer’s ‘book’ is their printed portfolio of their best work. I have digital versions, of course, but clients still expect people to have something physical that they can look at. It feels heavy and expensive – because it is! It can easily cost you £400 to put together a good one; mine has my name embossed on the leather cover.

There is a standard size for these books – they’re designed with pages that take 14x11-inch prints, and to take tearsheets from whatever magazines you have worked for. You lay it out like a magazine, carefully choosing which shots go together, and whether they look best on the right- or lefthand page.
