Bruce says… In editorial fashion you need to make sure that the lighting will work for the whole shoot. This means that all the shots will have a similar look, so will work together, and also means that you can work quickly, without having to fiddle with the lights. It is not unusual to have to shoot 24 outfits in a day, and so speed is of of the essence. I love this giant 7ft umbrella – it is a low-cost alternative to a proper parabolic reflector attachment that will cost you thousands. It spreads the light so it doesn’t fall off too quickly across the face, so is not as focused as a true parabolic. This silver version costs around £100/$100.
