Richard Young has been pho­tograph­ing celebri­ties and rock stars for 40 years

Young left school at 15 and worked in Paris and New York be­fore re­turn­ing to Lon­don in 1974, to work in a book­shop.

In a 40-year ca­reer his sub­jects have in­cluded Fred­die Mer­cury, Marvin Gaye, Andy Warhol, Paul McCart­ney and Kate Moss.

In 2006, The Times named him “One of the most im­por­tant pho­tog­ra­phers of the 20th Century”.

The Richard Young Gallery in Kens­ing­ton, Lon­don, hosts around six photo ex­hi­bi­tions a year.
