This image really shows off the idea of background and foreground working together. Of course the background is a given here with Patagonia’s awesome Mount Fitz Roy dominating the area. I spent two weeks hiking around looking for a great foreground and light to go with it. Many times I hiked for eight to 10 hours a day trying to locate the perfect combination of elements. I only came home with three strong images from the whole trip. This one was shot with a Nikon D800e camera and Nikon 16-35mm f/4 lens. I always take my Nikon D600 as a backup camera and to use for portraits.
