To pump up the colours or remove them altogether, visit your camera’s Picture Control menu. This offers a convenient way to control image-processing parameters such as saturation, sharpening and contrast using a series of premixed presets. For example, the Landscape Picture Control boosts the saturation of blues and greens and increases the sharpness, while the Portrait setting reduces the sharpness for smoother skin tones. You can modify the blend of parameters that make up each Picture Control and create your own custom versions that can be saved to memory card and then used in compatible software, such as Nikon’s Capture NX-D.
