Competition winners!
The theme was ‘Gardens’, and the entries were fantastic…
Most photographers enjoy photographing gardens, but it’s surprisingly tricky to take a picture that conveys ‘gardens’ as a theme. You can focus in on one small part, but capturing a sense of ‘garden’ as well as of ‘flower’ or ‘butterfly’ is difficult. Pull back too far to take a landscape shot and the flowers and human-scale elements that make a great garden are lost in a sea of green.
Rory McDonald, who won the Judges’ vote and a Lowepro bag this issue, took a photo that matched the theme exactly. More importantly, it’s beautifully composed, with nothing quite straight or parallel, giving what’s clearly a technically excellent image a natural feel. Likewise Heather Allen’s shot looks peaceful, but the composition and exposure show mastery.
If you’d like the chance of winning a bag or a bundle of camera guides, why not enter our latest competition online at www.photocrowd.com? This month the subject is ‘The colour green’. Please note that we can’t guarantee the exact style of bag each Judges’ Vote winner receives, but we can promise you it’ll be a good-quality camera bag from Lowepro.
