Samsung Series 9 971 27-inch

£849, $1200 www.samsung.com

This is a sleek-looking 2560x1440 display, and as it’s from Samsung’s Series 9 range you anticipate getting excellent picture quality (which you do). You also know it’s going to be expensive. The monitor features hardware-based calibration, and you can easily adjust colour settings. There are DisplayPort and HDMI inputs plus a USB hub (no USB 3.0). Unfortunately the stand isn’t very adjustable. As such, despite the panel’s capabilities, it feels like you’re getting style over substance. That’s a shame, since this is a lovely display.

Pros: A stunning-looking, vibrant monitor.

Cons: Very pricy compared to some of the others here.

We say: We’d choose others first because of the price.
