This shot was actually my idea! I’d seen something similar before, where the sunlit background through the doorway was completely over-exposed and blown out, and I wondered if I could do the same. As it happened the difference in brightness in my scene wasn’t quite enough, but I was still pleased with the result and Leslie said she liked it too. When I explained what I wanted to do, she suggested using aperture-priority mode with an aperture of f/5.6 to blur the background but allow for any small focus errors.
