1 Stay composed As with the classic image of Gateshead (page 30), the key here was to find a compositio­n that minimised dead space in the river and sky – the difference being we were shooting from above the bridge rather than below. We also took care to include St Paul’s cathedral on the left and Southwark and Docklands on the right. 2 Capture motion Again we set an aperture of f/13 at ISO100, which this time gave us a shutter speed of 10 seconds – plenty long enough to blur the light trails of the passing traffic and the fastmoving river. This time, though, we only needed a third of a stop of negative exposure compensati­on for a correct exposure.
