LCH ad just ments in acti on
Here’s how we can change the colours in this picture of a market stall using the LCH panel
Title
The pomegranates in the centre of this picture look pale, so we choose the Chroma option in the drop-down channel menu in the LCH panel. We can estimate the colour of the pomegranates along the centre line in this panel and then drag upwards to increase the chroma value of that colour.
Better greens
But this picture needs something else. The greens look a little lifeless. We can use the same process to increase the chroma value for this colour, but now it looks a bit yellow. The solution is to switch to the Hue channel and push that part of the line upwards to make the greens ‘bluer’.
Master Lightness adjustment
We’ll finish off with a contrast boost, and we can do that by swapping back to the Master Lightness view. In this panel you can make the same kind of Curves adjustments as in the Levels and Curves panel which we looked at last month – a slight S-shaped adjustment gives the midtones a boost.
