Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4
It’s utterly gorgeous, but this Nikon-fit Zeiss lens comes with a silly price tag
Zeiss’s new 85mm f/1.4 is a classic ‘portrait’ lens giving gorgeous results, though lenses of this type are also ideal for general photography, combining a telephoto angle of view with a wide maximum aperture. The Otus 85mm f/1.4 uses special glass with ‘anomalous partial dispersion’ to counter longitudinal chromatic aberration, or ‘bokeh blur’ – colouration around the edges of out-of-focus objects (see page 96 for more about this). The Nikon version is dubbed the ZF.2 and is a pretty solid lens, weighing in at 1140g. Moreover, it delivers the best results for any Nikon-fit 85mm lens currently available.
