Be­cause Paulo’s first Hot Shot was dom­i­nated by the dark blue un­der­pass wall, leav­ing the cam­era to its own de­vices re­sulted in a washed-out im­age, as his D600’s light me­ter tried to ren­der the deep blue as an av­er­age mid-tone. Damien sug­gested di­alling in a stop of neg­a­tive ex­po­sure com­pen­sa­tion, which dark­ened the blue wall but left the sub­ject per­fectly ex­posed.
