Play with shad­ows

Strong shad­ows make great sub­jects, says Damien. One op­tion is to get up high early or late in the day, and shoot down on any shad­ows; an­other op­tion is to shoot into the light, with the shad­ows stretch­ing to­wards you. In ei­ther case, you can ei­ther in­clude some con­text, to give your images a sense of place (left) or strip it out to cre­ate a graphic, ab­stract feel that’s more about light and shade, and the pat­terns they can cre­ate (be­low).
