Flashgun modifiers don’t have to soften light; some concentrate it instead. This honeycomb grid narrows the flash beam down to 30°, helping to isolate your subject in a more dramatic light. Be prepared to increase your exposure compensation a couple of stops for a balanced exposure. In return you’ll be rewarded with portrait shots packing plenty of visual impact.
Compact, lightweight construction keeps things portable, and if you fancy getting more creative, the Strobies system includes a range of other modifiers to help you get the most out of your flash. The only down side is that you also need a Strobies Flex Mount to attach the modifier. They come in various sizes, but this isn’t ideal if you own a variety of different flashguns.
