“When com­pos­ing waterfall im­ages it can some­times be hard to know whether or not to in­clude the sky,” says Nigel. “As a rule of thumb, if the sky is as bright as or brighter than the waterfall it’s usu­ally bet­ter to crop it out; if you don’t, it will be­come a sec­ondary high­light that may com­pete for the viewer’s at­ten­tion. If you’re shoot­ing against a clear blue sky this is ob­vi­ously less of an is­sue!”
