08 Bhutan Monks
Richard Dunwoody, UK
I was leading a riding tour in Eastern Bhutan when we came across these monks in a monastery overlooking the town of Jakar. They were rehearsing their ‘black hat’ dance, and although they were not in full costume their athleticism and the colours of their robes really made the image. I used a fast shutter speed to freeze the monks’ movement, although for much of the time there was very little action, so I was lucky to end up with this shot.
