Us­ing flash too far away

Us­ing a large aper­ture and in­creas­ing the ISO to am­plify the sig­nal from the sen­sor can make the light from a flash reach far­ther, but the light is un­likely to be the most flat­ter­ing. At the lim­its of its work­ing dis­tance, a flash es­sen­tially be­comes a pin­point light source, re­sult­ing in harsh shad­ows and red-eye. Ei­ther get closer, or switch it off.
