This shot of a man lighting a fire in the Makuna tribe ‘maloca’ (communal home) in the Colombian Amazon was shot indoors at night, and was challenging to get thanks to the very low light levels! John suggested that I get as low as possible so that I was at the same level as the subject for a more interesting point of view, and to position a light behind the smoke for a backlit effect. John also recommended turning on the noise-reduction feature of my camera as I was shooting at ISO4000!
