On your marks, get sunset…

The moon will begin to rise before the sky is dark. Aim to get to your spot an hour or so before sunset so that you can get set up. The period just after sunset, while you have enough light to set a faster shutter speed, and while the moon is still low in the sky, is the optimum time to shoot.
