Kate says… Versatile zoom lenses are useful, but portraiture requires some specialist optics to get the sharpest shots. A 50mm is a must-have, whether it’s an f/1.4 or the more forgiving f/1.8, and the 24-70mm f/2.8 is an excellent addition to any kit list (see page 94 for more on this lens).
