It’s very unusual for a shot like this, with all the main scenery in the background, to work. Here, the bright light ensures there’s plenty of contrast, and thus texture, in the hills, and helps create that perfect reflection in the lake. If the sky were pure blue the scene would look unbalanced, but the scattered clouds on the left balance the height of the mountain on the right.
