Manfrotto Lumie Muse

An ultra-compact lighting solution with handy accessories

-

Constant lighting in the form of lightweight LEDs has gained a firm following over the last few years, and with good reason: the lights are bright and daylight-balanced, and you can see the effect on your subject before you take a shot. Manfrotto’s Lumie lights are smaller than the usual box LED arrays, yet they still pack an incredible amount of lighting power. In fact, it’s their size and weight (they can be slipped into a pocket) that makes them stand out, because it enables them to be positioned and fixed in place without the need for heavy supports. The top-of-the-range model is the Muse, which features eight bright LEDs, 92 per cent colour accuracy and four dimmer settings, and it delivers 550 Lux of light (a 100W light bulb averages 1700 Lux). Inside is a rechargeable battery that’s capable of powering the unit at maximum output for an hour. The front of the unit has a holder for a filter system that enables you to attach a selection of coloured filters – in addition to the colour temperature and diffusion filters included, classic and creative filter kits are also available.
