When shoot­ing more ab­stract im­ages of an­i­mals, fo­cus on some­thing that cap­tures an as­pect of their char­ac­ter, such as the pre­his­toric scales of the croc on page 10, or the ex­tended wings of this African darter. Darters are known for the way they spread out their wings to dry, so by crop­ping in tight here, and go­ing for a slightly wider as­pect ra­tio than the stan­dard 3:2, Tracy has made the be­hav­iour the sub­ject of the im­age.
