£30*, $43.11 Postage: £4.29, $9.18 Delivery time: three working days www.photobox.co.uk Photobox is an online printing giant, so it’s surprising that you can only design your photobook in browser-based software. Its interface is slick and easy to use, though, plus the old 10MB image size limit is no more. There are lots of layout, background and cropping choices, but limited advanced customisation.

We went for Photobox’s most popular photobook and were amazed to receive it in just three working days, although it could have taken up to ten. Print quality isn’t quite so impressive, though, with a marginally lower resolution than the Bob and Jessops books, resulting in slight graininess. The printing is also a little brighter, revealing extra shadow detail, but at the cost of reduced contrast. Even so, it’s not bad for the money.

Pros Very speedy service; competitive pricing; easy content creation. Cons Slightly mediocre print quality; software too basic for professional projects. We say

A reasonable choice if speed, simplicity and cost trump outright print quality. Overall score * 26 pages, 170gsm gloss paper, regular binding, printed hardcover, US prices converted from sterling
