Which software is better, PaintShop Pro or Adobe Photoshop Elements?

Both of these programs are well established, PaintShop Pro and Photoshop Elements being in their 18th and 14th editions respectively. Elements is the more popular, and universally well known, but both are very similar in some respects, with guided actions for beginners, useful tools for cataloguing your images, and impressive ranges of sophisticated image editing features.

Unlike Adobe’s ‘Creative Cloud’ programs, both are available to buy outright. On balance, we’d say that Photoshop Elements has the edge, but it’s a close-run thing. 30-day free trial versions are available for both programs, so you could download them both and see which suits you better.
