Ja­son says... High-end flash­guns can usu­ally fire a burst of mul­ti­ple flashes through­out a long ex­po­sure, to cre­ate a stro­bo­scopic ef­fect. At a foot­ball match, for ex­am­ple, it might be used to show the flight of the ball.
