Know the rules

As long as you use common sense, most security guards will leave you alone, as they’re used to plane spotters. But there are rules. For example, if you’re shooting within three metres of the perimeter fence you might be asked to move. It might be worth opting for private land and seeking permission beforehand as we did at the Thistle Heathrow hotel. They were happy for us to shoot as long as we ordered food and drinks – fine by us!
