It was quite grey first thing in the morning, so Heather suggested looking for subjects higher up, where there was more light. The oak trees were thick with acorns, and after a few minutes looking for some pristine examples, Heather pointed out a clump that had seemingly lined up in a row for me, and suggested placing them diagonally across the frame. “Diagonals are always much more pleasing than straight lines in a shot,” she explained. I went for a portrait orientation shot, and positioned the cluster of acorns so that they went from the top-left of the frame to the bottom-right.
