HOT SHOT #3
Our Apprentice
says… Heather is an incredible naturalist and seemed to know all of the names of the wildlife we encountered. She even spotted some lichen growing among the moss and suggested it’d be best to photograph it from above. “I think it needs some gardening,” Heather said. She moved a couple of twigs that were resting on the lichen. “Never cut anything back or tamper with a scene drastically, but if you can move a small twig here or there it makes the shot neater,” she advised. I hadn’t thought about altering the scene before, but Heather was right. The challenge with this image was getting all of the lichen sharp, and arranging all of the elements in a balanced composition. I think it works quite well, though it could do with one or two more stems on the left!
